In the FREE Webinar, John Chitty discusses the approach to the rat consultation including handling and examination.

Whilst rats are commonly kept as children’s pets and are often regarded as “low budget”, there are a growing number of highly bonded committed and very knowledgeable adult rat owners.

They often expect and need a more comprehensive approach, and there is a lot that can be done in terms of investigation of pet rat diseases.

The Webinar also covers common diseases, including skin disease, mammary tumours, and respiratory disease. Management of these pets is often key to disease prevention and this is also discussed.

Key aims of the Webinar are to:

  • understand the keeping of pet rats
  • understand a basic approach to the rat consultation
  • understand handling and dosing of rats
  • appreciate the common diseases and how to approach them
  • appreciate the role of social grouping in the pathogenesis of many “infectious” diseases
